Get the Ashenfall launcher and client to start playing.

No website signup needed. Install the launcher, click Play, and log in with any username and password (5+ characters). Your account is created on first login.

Download AshenfallSetup.exe

One file — save to Desktop, double-click AshenfallSetup.exe, click Install, then open Ashenfall Launcher from your Desktop. No zip. Java included.

Launcher JAR (advanced)

Only if you already have Java 17+. Download AshenfallLauncher.bat and AshenfallLauncher.jar into the same folder and run the .bat.

Cache download

Manual cache only if the launcher cannot update. Extract to %USERPROFILE%\.ashenfall\jagexcache\oldschool\LIVE or let the launcher fetch it automatically.

Install Instructions

  1. Windows: download AshenfallSetup.exe, run it, then open the Desktop shortcut.
  2. Let the launcher update — It fetches the latest client and cache automatically.
  3. Click Play — The launcher starts the RuneLite-based Ashenfall client.
  4. Log in — Choose a username and password in the client. First login creates your account automatically.

Troubleshooting

  • "This app can't run on your PC" — You need 64-bit Windows 10/11. 32-bit Windows cannot run the client. Check Settings → System → About → System type (must say 64-bit).
  • Download incomplete — AshenfallSetup.exe must be about 31 MB. If it is only a few KB, delete it and download again.
  • Still stuck? Try the portable zip instead, or join Discord for help.

Requirements

  • 64-bit Windows 10/11 (32-bit is not supported)
  • Java 17 is included in the installer — no separate Java install needed
  • 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • Stable internet connection

Manual install (optional)

If you only download the client JAR, place it in a folder with the launcher. Cache files are extracted to:

%USERPROFILE%\.ashenfall\jagexcache\oldschool\LIVE
